This course provides comprehensive hands-on instruction in executable modeling, testing, and cloud deployment of Business Automation services and pageflow apps using BPMN and DMN. The course is comprehensive and hands-on, with numerous exercises using the Trisotech tools. It is divided into two sections, each with its own post-class certification.

Business Automation – aka Digital Transformation – and Low-Code software development are two of the hottest topics today. There are numerous Low-Code Business Automation platforms available, most dealing with situational CRM and HR apps and all using proprietary languages. Our Low-Code Business Automation course shows you how to create the kind of high-volume event-driven Business Automation services and pageflow apps used in financial services and healthcare… without programming, using only the BPMN and DMN standards. Executable BPMN until now has required Java programmers, but the Trisotech platform borrows Low-Code features from DMN to make executable design accessible to what Microsoft calls software “makers” – technically oriented product owners and business users, and developers interested in model-based solutions.

This course provides comprehensive hands-on instruction in executable modeling, testing, and cloud deployment of Business Automation services and pageflow apps using BPMN and DMN. The course is comprehensive and divided into two sections, each with its own post-class certification. The Basics section presents the fundamental building blocks and techniques, which revolve around configuration and use of various BPMN task types: Decision tasks, Service tasks, Script tasks, User tasks, and Call Activities. Boxed expressions and FEEL, borrowed from DMN, are used for all modeler-defined business logic as well as for mapping between process variables (data objects) and task inputs and outputs. The course includes numerous exercises in which students test their knowledge by modeling a given scenario, after which we discuss the solution. At the end of the Basics section, students build a working version of a Vacation Request workflow process. Students who pass an online exam at the end of this section receive Business Automation Basics certification.

The Advanced section deals with additional issues encountered in real-world Business Automation projects, including REST-enabled database operations, Low-Code integration of public APIs, and pageflow logic. Students build a working Stock Trading pageflow app incorporating a real-time stock quote service. Students who demonstrate a correct working app via execution of several stock trades receive Business Automation Advanced certification. Certified students learn everything they will need in almost any Business Automation project. Students should have a good knowledge of DMN, including the use of BKMs, contexts, and FEEL, before taking this course. For those who do not, we offer a bundling of DMN and Business Automation training at a substantial discount.

The course is intensive and hands-on. Students have 60-day use of the Trisotech platform to complete the training and post-class certification requirements, including Workflow Modeler (BPMN), Decision Modeler (DMN), Digital Enterprise Graph, Cloud Datastores, Operation Library, one-click Cloud Publish as a REST service in the Trisotech Cloud, and Service Library. In addition, each student has his or her own MySQL database on my website and a Skyvia Connect endpoint providing REST access to it. The class is self-paced, delivered on-demand via the Scormcloud Learning Management System (LMS). Students interact with the training content in one browser window, and perform exercises using Trisotech in a second window. You can’t learn Business Automation simply by watching videos; you need to build and execute models yourself.

Completion of the training and all certification requirements must be completed within 60 days of start. After that, access to the training and tool expire. An extension may be requested for an additional fee, but granting it is up to my discretion. There is a lot of material, and completing certification takes time, so please don’t wait until the end to get started. If, near the start of the course, you believe you will not be able to complete it in 60 days, notify me right away and we can arrange for delayed start. But after a few weeks, this will not be possible.

Web/On-Demand Training and bpmnPRO

Registration by credit card
1. Invitations to the training and tool will be sent within one business day of registration, including successful completion of payment.
2. The registration or accomanying correspondence must list each student by name and email address.
Registration by purchase order
1. Invitations to the training and tool will be sent within one business day of receipt of a valid purchase order.
2. The purchase order or accompanying correspondence must list each student by name and email address.
3. The purchase will be invoiced at the time of issuance of the invitations, payable Net 30 via ACH or paper check.
Time limitation
1. Access to the training video and tool will expire 60 days following issuance of the invitations. Extensions may be purchased for an additional fee.
Certification
1. With BPMN and DMN Training, certification is included in the price. Introduction to BPM and bpmnPRO do not include certification.
2. For certification, student must pass an online exam and satisfactorily complete a mail-in exercise, and student may repeat either or both until accepted.
3. The certification exercise must use the tool prescribed by the training.
4. All certification requirements must be completed during the 60-day access period. As stated above, extensions may be purchased.
Refund
1. If student is dissatisfied with the training within 5 days of receiving the invitations, I will issue a full refund.
2. Failure to complete certification does not entitle student to a refund.

Live/Online or Live/Onsite Training

Letter agreement
1. Purchase of the training is secured by a letter agreement specifying the date, format, location, tool, and minimum number of students in the class, executed by an authorized individual in the client organization.
2. The letter agreement must specify a valid purchase order number.
Invoice
1. Standard payment terms are invoicing upon completion of the class, payable Net 30 via ACH or paper check.
2. If client is unable to meet Net30 requirement, invoice will be sent upon execution of the letter agreement.
Travel expense
1. For live/onsite training, client will be billed for travel expenses at cost, supported by an expense report and receipts. The client may elect to include a fixed amount for travel expense included in the cost of the training, subject to fixing the date and location.
2. Any rules and restrictions on travel expense must be specified in full at the time of agreement.
3. In the case that the date or location of training changes after execution of the letter agreement, client is responsible for reimbursement of non-refundable travel expenses or penalties.
